6 Ways to Pamper Yourself
Kick off the new year with some relaxing rituals to put in place. Whether you have a few days of vacation time or just a couple hours to spare, there's a number of things you can indulge in to make yourself feel special. Follow our tips below for a few options to help you rejuvenate for the new year ahead.
1. Relaxing Bath
I don't know about you, but nothing helps me wind down quite like a relaxing bath. Run the water warm and accessorize your bath time with rose petals, vanilla-scented candles, and, of course, a bath bomb from Lush. Two of my favorites are the Yoga Bomb, which features a meditative blend of color and earthy oils, and Twilight, which contains lavender oil and tonka to soothe stressed bodies and minds. Add a glass of wine to the mix if you really need to let loose.
2. Cozy Clothes
As pretty as they are, once the holiday parties have passed, it's time to ditch the sparkly dresses and stilettos and get cozy. A comfy sweater, like Free People's 'She's All That' Knit Turtleneck Sweater or All Mine Sweater, are great picks to stay warm. Add thermal leggings (I live in my pair by Nike in the winter) and some fluffy slippers to complete the outfit. Keep the rest of your look simple with minimal makeup and a messy bun or braid.
3. Silky Sheets
Along with being obnoxiously luxurious, silk sheets can be very relaxing. The natural properties of silk sheets are said to help keep you cool and comfortable. They can also help maintain a glowing complexion and aide with shiny hair. That means they're likely to be your best friend if you plan on lounging in bed for a day.
4. Ambient Lighting
We're constantly bombarded with LED light from our phones, TVs, computers, etc. To really set a relaxing tone and help yourself unwind, decorate your space with ambient lighting. A salt lamp, like the Himalayan Salt Lamp from Urban Outfitters, is soothing and on trend. The lamp is available in both white and peach, which emanates a relaxing sunny glow.
Lavender, jasmine, and vanilla are just a few of the many scents that are said to be ideal for relaxation and sleep. Pamper yourself by stocking up on a seasonal incense set, like the Palo Santo Incense Bundle from Anthropologie or the Aquarian Soul Incense Kit from Urban Outfitters, and a pretty holder.
One of the easiest ways to pamper yourself and really get away from it all is by disconnecting. To give yourself some true quite time, turn off your phone for an hour or two or opt for a good book instead of reality show. If you're really feeling brave, deactivate your Facebook account for a couple days. Sometimes the best way to stay in tune with your thoughts is by cutting out all the excess noise.
