Shop The Look: Summer Date Night

In the warm summer evening, I love the look and feel of a white dress set against a wonderful date night in the city with my husband, Chris. A dewy foundation with simple natural makeup and a solid red lipstick, like Nars’ Audacious Lipstick in Annabella, strikes the right tone between dressy and casual in a subtle way.

Gold summer sandals and accessories are a great way to wear metallics in a non-gaudy type of way. Plus the plain, crisp, white dress is an excellent way to highlight gold jewelry. For some reason whenever I wear too much gold, I feel gaudy. I somehow think one piece of gold jewelry is enough, while my silver and platinum jewelry I can stack on stack on stack.

I’m not even sure if heeled slide sandals are still a “thing” or not, but I love slides in general. These Sam Edelman ones are chic and versatile - try pairing them with a white tee and skinny jeans. So chic. Slide sandals with the chunky heel are probably one of the most comfortable styles of shoes I’ve ever worn. There is enough space in the front for my toes to not feel pinched, and the chunky heel is a nice base on which to stand.

The only problem I have with wearing white dresses on date nights is if my husband and I are going out to an Italian or Indian restaurant. I tend to be a bit of a messy eater, so I avoid wearing white on those nights. Hey, at least I know myself…

Other than that, I will be investing in more white summer dresses this year. I’ve never worn a lot of white dresses, or white in general, now that I think about it. As I’ve gotten older, I find white to be a very complimentary color, and I like that wearing all white makes my petite 5’1 frame look taller.

Hope you like the look and let me know what you’re wearing on date nights!
