8 Things You Must Pack For A Business Trip

Travelling for your job can lead to the most amazing experiences. I had the time of my life at a conference in Las Vegas. The one problem is, what do you pack for a business trip?! For your first trip, you might not have a great idea of what you’ll be doing and what a business trip really entails. Hello, anxiety! Let’s see if we can put that stress aside with these business trip essentials.

8 Things You Must Pack For A Business Trip: You Do Not Want to Be Caught Without These Essentials! Click To Tweet

1.Comfy Shoes

If there was ever a time to splurge on comfy shoes, it’s a business trip. Obviously, if you’re going to a conference where you’re going to be on your feet all day, put those suckers in some Scholl’s. But even if you expect to be sitting in a meeting room, you never know where everyone will want to go after work. You could be walking all over town in heels and that just sounds like a nightmare. I was in boots with little support at a conference and I was dying. If you’re going to be standing all day, go all out.

2. Day to Night Wear

One of the most difficult parts about what to pack for a business trip is your clothes! Going from a conference to a networking party or meetings to a night on the town is challenging.

My best advice here is to think about pieces that will transition.

You know all those magazine features on clothing that goes from day to night? Yep, now is the time to go back and search that on Pinterest.

For my business trip, I had to wear a company shirt during the day. When I had a networking event right after, I wore the shirt with leggings and a blazer and just switched out the shirt for a dress after the end of working that day. Think quick changes here, friends. Fit a few extra things in your purse and you’ll be ready to go.

3. Networking Tools

Just because you’re going somewhere for your job doesn’t mean you should ignore other job opportunities and potential relationships. You may have heard you should always be networking. That’s true on a business trip too!

Even if you love your job, creating new relationships by networking can make a huge difference in your career.

When you’re thinking about what to pack for a business trip, remember you’re networking tools. I had affordable business cards printed before I went to my conference. Think about what you would need to exchange information with a potential connection and prepare your elevator pitch.

4. Pre-Packed Toiletries

This is a must for the avid traveller. Have a second set of toiletries just for trips. Packing is so much easier if you do this! I travel about once a month just to go home and visit family and I love not having to pack everything away and take it out all over again.

Purchasing an extra toothbrush is a small price to pay for 10 minutes saved every time you travel. Make this tiny investment and you’ll thank yourself.

5. Portable Charger

Depending on what you’re doing on your business trip, you may not have access to power outlets. Sometimes, it feels like there’s nothing worse than being stuck with a dead phone. Especially when you’re in a new place. I mean, it sounds silly saying that, but I’m pretty sure we’ve all felt it.

Getting a portable charger is a must for anyone who travels often, but it can really save your life on a business trip. You might even want to get one for your laptop.

6. Workout Attire

After you’ve been through a day of hard work and maybe even some constructive criticism that rubbed you the wrong way, you may feel like plopping on your bed. Don’t do it! If you’re going to go on a business trip that’s longer than a few days, make sure to bring your workout gear. Sneakers, shorts, and a tee are definitely things you are going to want to pack for a business trip.

This one is essential for your personal sanity. Sometimes you just need to get your Om on or work out your stress on the treadmill. You could even check out a cool workout place nearby!

7. Snacks

I don’t know about you, but I’m not a happy person when I’m hangry. The problem is, when you’re travelling you don’t really know when you’re going to get food. Save yourself the pain of an empty stomach and add a few snack bars to your bag. I always do this and it saves me money and a hungry emotional breakdown.
